Folding cartons · Packaging buyer’s guide
A hang-tab carton needs to work on the intended retail fixture as well as around the product. The tab position, hole shape, and packed balance affect how the package presents on a peg.

The short answer
The hang tab connects the filled package to the fixture. Its hole and position need to match the retailer’s display, while the complete structure must be reviewed with the packed product. A hanging hole alone is not a verified load specification.
What to review before approving production
Get the retailer’s fixture requirements before finalizing the structure. Check a filled sample on the intended hook and examine whether the front faces correctly. The product weight, tab construction, and distribution environment need review together.
