Folding cartons · Packaging buyer’s guide
A snap-lock or 1-2-3 bottom carton is assembled by folding and engaging its bottom flaps. It is distinct from a pre-glued auto-bottom construction, even when both are discussed as locking-bottom boxes.

The short answer
Snap-lock or 1-2-3 bottom flaps are folded and interlocked during assembly. They should not be confused with a pre-glued crash-lock base. Make the assembly sequence clear and inspect the fully seated bottom before loading the product.
What to review before approving production
Ask the people who will pack the job to assemble a sample and check the bottom before loading. Evaluate the number of handling steps and the consequences of an incorrectly seated flap. Confirm product support with the actual item instead of assigning strength from the closure name.
