Folding cartons · Packaging buyer’s guide
A window can let buyers see the product, but its position also changes the carton’s remaining printable and structural area. Start with what the customer needs to see and how the product will stay aligned behind the opening.

The short answer
Window position controls what is visible and how much uninterrupted board remains. Keep the product located behind the opening and establish whether film is needed. Approve the complete construction, including any insert, rather than only the cutout shape.
What to review before approving production
Compare an open cutout with a film-window construction where appropriate. Review the opening edges, insert position, and the way the filled box travels. Do not assume a window makes the whole package recyclable or suitable for direct food contact.
Build a practical project brief
- Visible portion of the actual product
- Open cutout or window-film requirement
- Product alignment and insert support
- Handling and end-of-life requirements
